If you like off the tracks camping, Solio is for you. This private reserve has been set up 20 years ago to help protect the endangered rhinos. Today, it is the largest rhino sanctuary in whole Kenya : 120 animals enjoy life there, black and white rhinos, between Mount Kenya and the Aberdares.
They live with their mates : lions, reticulated giraffes, buffaloes, oryxes, Cape elands, impalas and gazelles. If you like birds, you will be fascinated by the colorful flight of the lilac-breasted roller, the feathers of the crowned crane, the scream of the Egyptian goose.
The swamp is worth a deep look, as well as the many acacias, yellow fever and thorntree.
Most of the time you will be alone inside the reserve and feel the peace and violence of nature.
